About Us

What We Do

Welcome to MDB POLLED HEREFORDS, LLC, located in the Treasure Valley of southwest Idaho. We have a rich history of ranching and farming, and our focus is on providing top performance bulls and heifers with genetic rich qualities for Polled Hereford replacements.

Our vision is rooted in faith, and our goal is to produce the highest quality beef seedstock genetics while upholding values like family, faith, consistency, integrity, humility, service, and passion.

Maternal Qualities

Over years of careful selection of replacement heifers and retaining only our very best cows we now have a herd that calves yearly, calves without assistance, provides adequate milk maximizing growth, maintains body condition while nursing, and are available to breed on the first day of breeding season.

We maintain 25 producing cows plus up to 5 heifers per year, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality Polled Hereford replacement Bulls and Heifers.

Nutrition Program

Our nutrition program will always continue to improve. Our basic goal is to: GROW EVERY ANIMAL FROM THE INSIDE OUT. And to keep it simple. We tweak our feed rations to specifically fit each corral per their genetic makeup. We use grass hay and a nutrition pellet.

Our program is designed to have every animal reach their genetic potential of growth, resulting in healthier, more productive cattle in the long run.

Elite Genetics

We AI 100% all heifers and cows. We spend hours each year reviewing EPDs on bulls within the American Hereford Registry. Genetics and Performance hold equal importance. We maintain a group of 5-8 of the best suited bulls to mate with our cows and heifers. We do focus on the heterosis advantage so the BMI index is always in the top 5% of the breed. We want to have at least 10 traits and indexes in the top 5%. Many of our cows have reached that level. Every Herd Sire must have 10 EPDs/Indexes in the top 5% to qualify for our semen pool. All heifers must breed in the first 25 days of breeding season, synchronizing and AI is a breeding must, we preg check after 28 days, and expect genetically superior calves.
